Ever since I was a child, I have been interested in art and I have been drawing and painting ever since I could hold a crayon.
My enthusiasm grew when my great uncle would visit, showing us his photographs from his travels to the Vatican. The pictures of the Sistine were a thing of wonder to me. No Disney film captured my interest the way the panels of that ceiling or the altar did. My artistic world became a daily activity so when it was time for college, art school was my goal. Fortunately, I went to Virginia Commonwealth University and graduated with Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Painting & Printmaking, Art Education and minored in Art History.
In honor of Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, I painted two murals from his ceiling, The Creation of Adam and The Libyan Sibyl. One of which is in my studio and keeps me motivated. The images make me happy so I can make my surroundings beautiful and calming.
Having art in my life brightens my spirit and brings me joy.
